It’s 2014! Let’s Go!
Ok, it’s 2014, now what??? We are well into the first week of the new year. This is the time to set introspection into action, right? How is that going?
I’ve never been a huge fan of the big New Year ‘overhaul’. Or simply put, resolutions. Sure, I like to set a goal or 2 to achieve in the New Year, but I’m quite wary of unrealistic expectations. (Ahem…this comes after many years of my own ‘resolutions’ ending up in the dust;) Too many times I see the ol’, ‘I’m going to lose weight, quit smoking, get a better job, run a marathon, be a vegetarian, become rich’ etc etc, only to see that once February hits, we’re all back to where we were before the new year.
I’m not saying that striving for change is impossible, but what’s just as important as the goal, are the steps it takes to get there So, first off, it’s crucial to be specific. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, how much weight? 5lbs, 10lbs, 20 or more?? After that is decided, write down how this is going to happen. (because most definitely it isn’t going to happen by re-watching Game of Thrones all winter, waiting for the new season to air;) List at least 5-10 steps it will take to get to your goal. When it comes to weight loss though, things can get tricky. The mind is strong and it takes a lot to change old habits. Therefore, I am a FIRM believer in weekly good habit additions. So, instead of saying to yourself ‘I have to stop this, cut out that, etc’, let’s just start adding a good habit each week, and you will definitely see the accumulation of all these good new habits, automatically squeeze out the old!
That being said, beginning next week, we will have 2 new challenges.
The first, a Winter Weekly Habit Change Challenge! We will add one new habit a week, practicing that new habit daily, and the following week add on another, and so on. Let’s see what happens!
The next little challenge I am asking you to join in on is a 5 day raw food cleanse. Now, I don’t mean ‘cleanse’ as in starving yourself and counting calories. This is simply put, a raw, clean eating, sweeping out of toxins from the system without restriction of how much you can eat. We will fill up on however much we feel like, but only raw fruits and veggies. If you feel this is a loooong stretch, then join in for 3 days. Your body will love you after all the holiday hoopla. I get a lot of emails asking what exactly I eat on a daily basis, and now, I’m willing to share that with you firsthand with meal pics and info on a daily basis.
More details will come up in the next couple of days with more instruction. We will share pics of our meals and new habits. Let’s build this positive community and support each other towards positive change and better health for 2014!!!
