Post Workout Green Bliss!
Have you ever been completely depleted after a hard workout?? About 10 minutes ago I was! But, knowing this morning that I would be putting in some sweat time later on today, I doubled up my morning green drink. And thank the stars!! I felt completely wiped after completing one of my Miss Be Fit 12 minute fatburn workouts TWICE for a total of 24 minutes. (ack, has anyone else tried doubling up on the workouts?!) I dragged my sweaty self off my mat, crawled to the refrigerator, and there it was…glowing green! I grabbed and gave it a shake and literally polished it off in I’m sure less than a minute! I have to say, it was an instant buzz, cold, hydrating and sweet, and full of everything my body needed at that moment. Much better than a compressed dehydrated protein bar full of sugar or a heavy protein shake. This plant smoothie has all the protein needed for a quick boost.
So, the moral of the story, if you know you are going to be kicking your own bum later in the day, double up on your morning smoothie, pour the remainder in a glass bottle, and refrigerate. Then, if you can make it to the fridge, grab, shake it up and gulp it back!
Here’s the blend I had today:
1- 1/2 head of romaine lettuce or your favorite greens
2 large handfuls of baby spinach
2 stalks of celery
juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp spirulina
dash of stevia and/or cinnamon
