Moving to Paris 6 years ago was a dream come true. I was finally living in the city I had always imagined living in! I spent the first while being a tourist and eating like one! Croissants, palmiers, cheese, etc etc. I had given myself a temporary leave of absence from my uber healthy and clean Vancouver lifestyle of eating greens, and daily runs around the seawall, in order to accustom to my new surroundings.

So of course at some point and a couple of kilos later, I had to resume my more healthy habits and ditch the morning croissant in favor of my protein shakes or grapefruit. I researched routes and parks that were perfect for running. So there I was, back to it but in completely different surroundings. I found the 10-15 km I would run 4-5 times a week (a large part on cobblestone) would wear out my Asics sooner than I had intended. I was used to buying my sneaks at a specialized running store in Vancouver where the staff new me and where I could trust them to set me up with the best shoes for my feet.

For the life of me, I could not find this in Paris. The only places available were the big volume anonymous sports-type stores where the staff could careless about me, or about the products that they were selling. So, I would stock up on runners whenever I would go back to Canada, or I’d have friends mule the latest over in their baggage when visiting me.

This went on for 5 years!!! Until, one day when walking home from the Bastille, I noticed a new, privately owned shop with my favorite brands of running shoes! UNIK Sport. I was initially elated, but held in my excitement as quite often in Paris things can take a turn and not live up to initial expectations.

In I went, and was immediately greeted and assisted by super knowledgeable staff/owners who could actually have an interesting conversation with me about the different brands and the different purposes of the shoes I was looking at. These guys were experienced runners and could walk the walk as well as talk the talk. I was so happy. THIS would be my new place to get my shoes! And in fact, they were so amazingly helpful, they custom ordered in the size and model that I wanted the most. This kind of service is very hard to find in this town;)

And not only did they have a proper supply of the best shoes for running, power walking, etc, but a decent supply of women’s running supplies: bras, leggings, tops etc. I should note they are both a men’s’ and women’s’ store.

No more pairs of trainers taking up space in my luggage or my friends’ suitcases. I am now a loyal customer and they have been so kind to set me up with the coolest colors for my website videos!!
These guys are a dream!

If you live in Paris and you are looking for really knowledgeable and courteous customer service, as well as the latest greatest sneaks for running that won’t blow out after 6 months, or if you are looking for advice on a custom fit, look no further! It’s all here and I’m so SO happy about that;)) You’ll be seeing many more pairs of sneaks from UNIK in my vids from now on!
